Spotting and Bleeding all month long?!?

Ok, so since the beginning of the month I have been spotting and some days bleeding very heavy. I stopped for a day and it started back up again. My period wasnt even due until the 22nd of jan... this has never happened to me before, I am only 24, too young to be going thru menopause, so what else could it be?
