Is the Cubs' century long story good for baseball?

Do you think if the Cubs ever won, baseball would lose a great story of hope and close that chapter? What happens to all those marginal baseball fans that root for the Cubs in hoping to see a happy ending. I think for the sake of keeping the non true baseball fans interested, it would be good that the Cubs get close every year and but not win the World Series. Look at baseball's popularity when the Cubs weren't contending. Lots of marketing is MLB is based on hope. The title of Lovable Losers can't be replaced with Lovable Winners. What are your thoughts?
