Easy holiday DIY crafts?

So my husband is deploying soon and will be gone for the holidays. I will be trying to keep busy with work and school but I know I'll have some down time and I'd like to do some fun crafting. It's the first holiday season in our first house and we don't have many decorations to start -- actually really none except for a 6" fake lighted tree with maybe 10 ornaments from my single days haha. What are some good crafts that I can do to decorate? I hate the idea of spending tons of money on decorations, I'd rather make my own. None are overly complicated -- any websites you have used before or books you've picked through would be helpful. Thanks!
