If cigarettes are put into potting soil, does it help plants grow?

we had a plant that had pretty much died, and after awhile it just became an ornament. we started to our cigarettes out in the planter, and after awhile the plant started to grow! it's gettin' bigger each day, haha... it's kind of trippy! not sure what kind of plant it is.. but, yeah. and the planter probably has like over 50 smokes in it.
