Writing Formulas (With Charge) For Ions and Compounds?

What is the easiest way to know how to write formulas for ions with charge such as Phosphate Ion, Iron (II) Ion, and Calcium Ion? Also what about compounds such as Potium Iodide and Sodium Bicarbonate?
